Social class position translates itself into economic goods. This is well illustrated in the following lists; taken from Henry Jones Ford, The Scotch-Irish in America (Princeton, 1915). The first list contains the names of those who had hoped to share in the "Irish booty." The second list shows the final allotments to Dukes, Earls, Lords, Knights, many of whom had not even troubled to make early application.THE SCOTTISH UNDERTAKERS
